ABOUT THE UNITED STATES ARMY SPECIAL FORCES:
The United States Army Special Forces was formed in 1952. In 1961 qualified Special Forces personnel were honored by President John F. Kennedy with the authority to wear the Green Beret. Kennedy picked green ‘because he was an Irishman’ stated Col. Aaron Banks, the former OSS officer and first Commander of Special Forces.
